I'm Back.....

So yep....school threw me off my game for a long while. Didn't realize writing a dissertation would be that time consuming and stop me from writing in this blog. Got lots of stuff to talk about as we all move towards growth. Most importantly, lol, dont watch those cable news channels. Those news stations aren't healthy at all for various reasons. Anyway, keep striving to be the best you can be. Talk soon...

Love ya!

What's Next

...And the black woman can't carry the weight of the family for another 200 years if the black man don't stand up...we won't be no mo!"
Pastor Manning - 2009 Tribute to Donald Young

Chaos is everywhere, lol. But I won't be talking about anything emotional today. I've decided not to be a truth teller today. I've decided to talk about a positive in the world today. I visited a local high school not too long ago and it took me down memory lane. It reminded me of my high school...big, lots of students, academic excellence, balance, confidence, woman majority, and felt a sense of respect. I graduated from the best high school in America, lol, Detroit Cass Technical High School...the winner of the Steve Harvey Hoodie Awards in 2007 and 2008. So you automatically know we are great, lol. But this high school in Maryland is called Flowers High School did nothing less than impress me. The young ladies in their are poised to be the future leaders of the world. The young men are coming along too. I know I left their happy, with a feeling of some hope that the future is ok. But we gotta keep our young black men motivated. I'd hate to see our black women leave them so far behind.

Lets keep up our efforts in these school systems and everythang will be alright. Turn our youth into scholars, that perform there own research and come to a solid conclusion with substance, the way the majority of us should have been.

Let's Walk!

As you may know, I have accepted the challenge for the third year in a row, to participate in the 2009 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. This is a two-day, 39 mile journey throughout D.C. during the first weekend in May 2009. I am going to attempt to do the entire 39-miles.

I lost my grandmother to cancer on the eve of last year’s Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. So this time around, this event means that much more to me. Every three minutes, another woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. This is very sad news to me.

I am now ready to get started with my fundraising and I need your support! I have pledged to raise money for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer as part of my participation in the walk.

Your contribution will help to support medical research into the possible causes of and cure for breast cancer, education and early detection programs, and clinical care and support services for women with breast cancer in communities across the country. There is a special focus on helping medically underserved women, the poor, minorities, the elderly, or those with inadequate health insurance.

It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message.

Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Thank you for your support; you really do make a difference. Feel free to pass this email over to those who would be interested in donating.
