Do You Wanna Know

"When I took this, you were my enemy."
Katsumoto - The Last Samurai

I was talking with my mom the other day about learning and advancing my mentality and spirituality. I told her that I always listen to people who don't necessarily agree with anything I am saying. I believe this will either force us to reinforce our current beliefs with more information, or it will prove our belief system wrong. Its a win-win situation in my eyes. It forces the learner to go out and find more information to advance himself in his current belief system, so during the next discussion about life the person is able to present more and more info. But then the person with the different belief system could be right and I could be wrong. He may know some things that I do not know.

A real life example of this is Fox News, hahaha! I know a lot of people that cannot stand that channel. They go against urban thinking for the most part. But I watch it with excitement because I know most times they are going to come out with something that I do not know about or something completely false that its partly entertaining.

Knowing your opponent will allow you to learn their thinking patterns, so you will be able to counter them. Remember that old saying, "keep your friends close, but enemies closer." This is said so you can monitor them and learn them. So this is what I do.

Heck, you might even realize that you have more in common with your opponent than you initially thought. And that is usually the case. Its just a few passionate topics like religious beliefs, political topics, or family values is where the disagreement comes in.
