"They are who we thought they were! And we let them off the hook!!"
Dennis Green - Former NFL Head Football Coach
Well folks, we are on the dawn of a happy Labor Day Weekend. Its much needed because it will give me some time to think about some other things in life like the upcoming sports season!!
Next Thursday is when it begins: New Orleans Saints vs Indianapolis Colts in Indy. I got the Colts winning: 34 - 17. My preseason Super Bowl picks are the Patroits vs Seahawks. Ya know, the AFC is a tough conference this year, while the NFC belongs to anybody who has a great season. My poor Detroit Lions. I have no faith in that team. They will win probably 6 games again this season. Dumb Lions QB said the Lions will win at least 11 games. He has no brain at all. Oh yeah, I'm going to the Pro Bowl!!!!
College football started last night, and the polls for some reason have USC ranked #1. I'm so tired of that team. I hope they lose the first 3 games of the season. That team has been messing up the Michigan Wolverine's glory forever. But this may be the last year for a lot of players and coaches on that team, so they gotta go out with a bang.
The WNBA playoffs continued last night. Down to the final 4: Detroit vs Idiana, Phoenix vs San Antonio. I'm predicting a Detroit vs San Antonio final....something that should have happened in the NBA a few months back, but that's another story. But I'm quite sure Bill Laimbeer will not let the Detroit Shock lose this championship.
Why is Holyfield still boxing?!
The MLB is down to its last month of the regular season before the fall classic starts. The Red Sox seem the most dominate and consistent team so far in the season. The Detroit Tigers are fatigued and injured. But they still can make it, I'm hoping they dig down deep and get back in the playoffs.
I think the NHL starts in a month. Not sure, gotta check the schedule.
And lastly, the infamous NBA. Preseason starts in a month, some players are playing in the FIBA so they can compete in the 2008 Olympics in China. They are looking ok so far. No really impressed because they are beating up on losers right now. But once the NBA season starts, I will be looking to see how these refs officiate the game. If I see nothing has changed (biased calls, superstar calls, etc) then I'm done with them. That foolishness right there is the exact reason the Pistons lost to the Cavs last season and the Heat the season before. The NBA gotta take care of their stars Wade and Lebron.
