Doughboy - Boyz in the Hood
There is an event coming up in Las Vegas this weekend that I wanted to attend called the Hoodie Awards. Its an annual people's choice vpting event hosted by Steve Harvey that gives out awards to the best of various categories in the black community. When I finally decided to buy the airline ticket and hotel, I was a bit too late because the joints cost too much. But in any case, the event will be going on next year, so I will catch it then. What made me want to go this year is my high school has been nominated for the best high school award. Go get'em Cass Tech Detroit!!
This is the direction I'm going in with this post. Thinking back to my high school days, there were a lot of experiences (postive and negative) that still hang with me til this very day. I was talking to two of my boys from high school, that are my best friend's til this day. We were talking about some craziness. Like all the D's and F's we use to get, the fights we use to get into, those city bus rides, the girls we talked to, and the last day of school went folks kept setting off the fire alarm during final exams (LOL).
When I think about those days, I look at the youth in my family, and I tell them to enjoy their youth. Live it the best way you know how with some respect and love and diginity. Once those days are gone, they are not coming back. We have to enjoy each and every moment of our lives with God leading the way. Be sure to teach the youth you know this. So you know, they can enjoy life.
