I'm From The Old Skool

"And how beautiful they really are. And that there's no need to hide, or lie. And that it's possible to talk to someone without any lies, with no sarcasms, no deceptions, no exaggerations or any of the things that people use to confuse the truth."
Powder - Powder (1995)

Ya know I meant to post 7 questions in my last blog entry, but I had writer's block. So I just stopped at 4. I'm good now, so I think I'll edit that post today or tomorrow with the last 3 questions.

But yeah, on to today...

Old Skool music: Iesha - Another Bad Creation (ABC)

Old Skool movie: The Last Dragon

Old Skool tv show: Saturday Nights Main Event

Old Skool personalities: Bill Cosby

But actually, the two paragraphs below is what this entry is all about :-) Have you heard the one about the people chained in a cave? Or the one about the woman that lives in the Village Square....

Plato's Cave (summary)
There were several men trapped inside of a cave, with their hands, legs, and neck chained so they could not move. Their backs faced the cave opening so they could not see the sunlight, they only could see partial shadows as objects and images walked past them. They had been chained that way their entire life. Then one day, one of the men chained managed to break free, and he turned around and saw everything, that the truth was outside of the cave. The man rushed back and begin telling the other people chained of what he learned and saw. They all called him a liar and said to him their could not possibly be a world outside of what we are seeing right now.

Village Square (summary)
There was this lady who lived in the village square. She had these precious jewels that were priceless. But one day she lost them. So she was walking around sad and she told several people in the village square what had happened. The people gave their sympathy and some of the people offered to help her find the precious jewels. After several days of searching for the jewels in the village one man approached the woman and asked, "do you remember where in the village you lost the jewels? That might help us find them faster." The woman replied, "yes, I lost them in my house." The man obviously upset said, "woman are you crazy! We've been searching all over this village for your jewels and they are lost in your house. Why did you have us do all this searching?!" The woman calmly replied, "Well isn't that what you people do all the time? You all go out searching all over the earth for answers and love, when everything is within you."
