Say It Ain't So

"The evil that men should turn their brothers into beasts of burden, to be stripped of spirit, and hope, and strength - only because they are of another race, another creed. If there is a god, he did not mean this to be so."
Moses - The Ten Commandments (1956)

Ya know, I wasn't even going to post in the blog today. I had planned to take it easy this evening, but several thoughts entered my head today while I was either on my way to work and once I got to work. Some things in life just baffle me. I sit around and think to myself, "how is this possible?" or "how did it get like this?" Then I realize man has lost its way.

Here is what I'm talking about. First, I strongly believe everything in life starts at home with how we as individuals are raised. There are a lot of people out there in this world who do not know how to raise their kids. I see too much of the wrong thing everywhere. This part of my blog was inspired by the Steve Harvey Radio Show this morning. People need to understand how to raise their kids the right way instead of completely ignoring them or spoiling them. There is a fine line that must be tread no matter what. Parents need to raise boys to be a man. What is a man you ask? Well, I'll tell ya! A man is a person who is strong mentally, understands responsibility, know how to survive without being selfish, loves God, proactive, understands the world doesn't evolve around him, humble, and is not lazy. These are charateristics that are lacking in the male species. Teach parents instead of assuming.

Second, I was getting ready to leave work today, and our president came on the tube comparing Iraq to Vietnam. Why? How is he still in the oval office? The man has not done anything worth while for the past 7yrs except give us funny clips to laugh at from time to time. I'm not sure who will be our next president, but I know everyone 18 and up better get out and vote. There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't. It is sad that reality tv shows get more people to vote than the national elections. This shows me where a lot of people's priorities are. Those folks on reality tv don't give a care about you. Why don't you go out and vote for something that will affect you (financially, emotionally, possibly physically, and mentally) for the next 4 years.

I don't want this blog to be full of me venting, lol. But I see too much craziness in this world that I cannot ignore. So I have to release that energy :-)

This is a funny post. Personally, I feel that we shouldn't be obligated to vote just because we have the right to do so. What if we don't like for either party to be president. Take Bush and Kerry for example. I think they both suck. So I didn't vote for either one of them. Has my right to complain about Bushs performance become forfeit. Absolutely not. I can and will complain just as much as the people who did vote, whether they voted for him or not. Even though I didn't vote, I still feel that I did what I could to make sure that what I wanted to happen happened. I refused to settle for the lesser of two evils simply because I have the right to vote. I also have the right to not do what I don't want to do. I didn't want to settle. And I didn't.
