Eyes Wide Shut

"Am I sure? Only as sure as I am that the reality of one night, let alone that of a whole lifetime, can ever be the whole truth."
Alice Harford - Eyes Wide Shut (1999)

Ok, so I get it now :-) People do NOT like to have conversations that challenges the core of their ignorance. Now lets talk about this for a second. If you are having a conversation with someone and you tell them something that YOU know is the truth, and that don't want to hear it. That just confirms that the person does not like to have conversations that challenges the core of their ignorance.

Now what do I mean when we are talking about ignorance? What makes a person ignorant. It starts at birth really, when we are programmed to believe something that was learned and not enlightened. We learn about the family religion, we learn about the family politicians, we learn about our heritage, and we learn about whats "cool". And once these areas are set in a person's mind, there is nothing that can move them, even if you tell them the truth about their belief system.

You tell someone their religion began by the massive killings, rapings and blackmaling of innoncent people in small villages, they will call you a liar and curse you to death! You tell someone their favorite politican is a liar and won't follow through on what they told you in the campaign; you will get executed with words and banished from all conversations. If you tell someone the truth about their heritage and how it has been modified and not really what you are modeling your life after today, you will get swung on. If you tell someone that the clothes their are wearing really isn't cool, and that they need to pull their pants up or fix their shirt or wear loser clothing; you will get called a loser and laughed to shame.

The point I'm getting at is this :-) If you are offended by anything I said, your mind is closed and you hate to hear the truth. Open your eyes to what is really going on in this world and you will understand that we really don't know anything. So stop following the masses and follow God. Not the God in any church, follow the God in you. The one that talks to you and tells you the truth all the time, but you don't want to hear it.

And you don't want to hear it because you like following the crowd, or you don't want to feel as if you've wasted all those months and years doing something that was wrong. So you choose to keep doing wrong.

Interesting Post. Still this truth is all according to how you personally feel and your opinion. Why are you being closed minded and shutting out the hope of what others believe? If it's bringing them a sense of purpose, awareness and beginning to dismiss folks complacent behavior in motion towards ACTIOM and personal accountability then who are you (another man) to speak ill of it? That path, religion, politician or item clothing isn't beneficial for you! This post seems borderline self righteous, vain even because it seems as if folks don't agree with you so you dismiss as all bad (falsehood), and in that case you are acting no better then other political leaders, religion etc. I may not be a fan of the Christian religion because it reference Nat Turner)-- Still the ENTIRE Christian faith isn't bad or murders no more then Islam, … In fact the religions just mentioned are responsible for allot of good, and has reformed several millions of people which could’ve been endangered before because their unmoral unrestrained lifestyle.

Well that is my brief exchange of thoughts! Take care and interesting post! ;-)

Why do we have to be ignorant because we don't want to listen to what you have to say? I agree with ymb your post is vain and arrogant to say the least. who are you to question one's religion? christians are not the most sanctified if i remember correctly and sometimes the most hypocritical. and before you go talking about ignorance, learn how to spell correctly and use correct grammar in your post. are your eyes wide shut?

YMB, if the truth is according to how a person feels and their personal opinion, then any criminal can justify what they have done as the truth. I'm not shutting down anyones hope. That is not my goal. My goal is to challenge everyone's thinking system. Being wrong about something (whether its me or anyone else) is constantly being looked at as a bad thing, but its not. As I mentioned before, if someone has the truth revealed unto them, they should look at it as a revelation that should be celebrated. But you are correct, religion has made a lot of people better, and that is something that should be celebrated as well. But don't let the belief system of a religion sway your mind until you have done your own research.
